VISUAL EDGE MIXED JAVA, CORBA, MICROSOFT DEPLOYMENT

By CBR Staff Writer

Visual Edge Technology Ltd’s carved four new products out of its ObjectBridge object translation technology which it claims deliver greater flexibility and improved performance within mixed web, Java and Microsoft OLE object environments. Network Ease for Applets is a Netscape load-balancing plug-in enabling developers to have all or some of their Java classes executing on the server instead of a client. Network Ease for OLE takes an OLE/COM server and automatically generates a corresponding Java client that can be downloaded to a browser. Network Ease for Java enables Java server developers to generate Corba Interface Definition Language code, enabling their applets to be distributed over standard Corba IIOP object networking and executed anywhere that’s accessible to the web server over the network. Manage Ease for OLE adds SNMP support to Windows applications. Visual Edge developers can add one line of code to an application and Manage Ease for OLE handles low-level details of SNMP protocol support and creates a MIB management information base about the application. Network Ease for OLE and for Java cost $450 per NT server. Network Ease for Applets will be available in August, while Manage Ease costs $500 per developer.
