It said Visual DataFlex combines the power to create complex business applications and the resources to build database functionality into a single, user-friendly package.

It is targeted at all developers, irrespective of their experience, and covers both Windows and web application development. Visual DataFlex 12.1 is available as a free development tool for non-commercial, personal use. The personal development license is unrestricted and as with the commercial license includes access to multiple data sources, web development, and the Electos CMS system as well as Windows development and the new Codejock components.

Developers who want to improve the look and feel of their applications are helped by this new release, thanks to the inclusion of built-in Codejock component support. This means that Codejock CommandBars and Skin Framework components can be included with the addition of just a few lines of code.

The company said Visual DataFlex v12.1 also provides an AJAX framework that enhances web application development. The same business logic that drives a Visual DataFlex Windows application is used, allowing for the creation of interactive web applications that would, for example, benefit from look-up lists that behave as well as those for a Windows desktop application.
