The first phase of the project is the deployment of ‘Visiprise Shop Floor Management’, scheduled for summer 2006. Visiprise says the system will increase production efficiency by permitting the operator to call for support without having to leave the manufacturing line. Phase two will include the rollout of additional functions, such as process planning, bill of material management and manufacturing change management.

The Lincoln facility follows the Kawasaki Production System (KPS), a technique that uses efficient workflow and worker involvement to produce the highest quality product. A just in time supply method allows the company to eliminate expensive warehousing and over-ordering of parts.

Because Visiprise solutions easily enable our team to leverage the power concepts and practices behind the Kawasaki Production System approach, we know that Kawasaki will see an immediate business benefit, said Lanny Nissen, railcar division manager.
