Visioneer has unveiled NetScan 4000, a duplex colour network scanner with LCD touch screen. It uses a flatbed or 50-page automatic document feeder to allow users to scan both sides of the document to e-mail, a network folder, fax recipient, FTP location or printer through the large 7-inch, bright colour LCD touch panel that displays all operation modes.
The screen is responsive to touch and the soft Qwerty keyboard can be used for data entry. The NetScan 4000 can support small to medium workgroups and offices with multi-user access and administration through an embedded form-based web page configuration and a standard ethernet connection, the company said.
According to Visioneer, the document scanner scans documents at 20ppm or 14ipm in duplex format. It supports LDAP (lightweight directory access protocol) for direct access to Microsoft Exchange Server email directories and SMTP server support so that small businesses without elaborate Exchange servers or large IT departments can configure their scan-to-email with internet and ISP based mail services.
The 50-page capacity automatic document feeder can handle paper from 5.5” x 5.5” up to 8.5” x 14” documents and the built-in ethernet connection gives the device network privileges as defined by the network administrator, the company said.
In addition, the NetScan 4000 network management tool allows the administrator to configure one or multiple NetScan 4000 devices on the network. The form driven web page allows creation of up to 2000 email addresses and 50 filing destinations to support document scanning workflows at the device and on the network.
