Virgin spreads its wings in Asia

Virgin Mobile is set to launch services in Taiwan and Hong Kong. The company plans to launch the two Asian networks by the end of 2002.

Ross Cormack, the company’s CEO, announced the plans at a press conference in Singapore.

The company is in talks with two Taiwanese networks to help lead the launch in the country. The Taiwanese launch should happen in Q3 of 2002, with the Hong Kong launched three months later.

Mr Cormack also announced that Virgin was considering further Asian networks in South Korea, Malaysia, India, Indonesia, the Philippines and China.
