America has finally decided that the Vietnam War really is over, and AT&T Co is to use 210 circuits on undersea cable, microwave, and international satellites for long distance telephone service with Vietnam when the US government allows calling to that country: the 210 circuits would link Vietnam and the US via two separate communications pathways, the first of which will use 60 circuits in a transatlantic cable jointly owned by AT&T and France Telecom to carry calls across the Atlantic to a cable station in France; from there, calls will travel over microwave links to a satellite earth station then sent via the Intelsat satellite system to Hanoi; on the second path, 150 circuits will be used to route calls from an AT&T satellite earth station in California to a Vietnamese-owned satellite ground station in Ho Chi Minh City.
