This deal will encourage mobile equipment manufacturers to speed up production of media -enabled handsets for the market. It is predicted that support for the new platform will arrive in early 2002.
Handset manufacturers using OMAP platform can incorporate support for RealPlayer Mobile into their products and enable mobile access to digital media in RealNetworks’ formats, which are used by 85% of streaming media web pages, thus enabling the delivery of high standard audio and video to handsets.
