Viasystems Group Inc, the St Louis, Missouri-based printed circuit board manufacturer, has acquired its second European printed circuit board operation in three months. It has agreed to buy privately held Mommers Print Services BV, on undisclosed terms. Mommers, a Netherlands-based company, specializes in producing high volume, medium to high complexity boards and backplanes for large telecommunications and data processing customers, and has factories in the Netherlands and sales offices in France, Germany, the UK, Ireland and Scandinavia. Last year Viasystems, one of the largest printed circuit board and backplane manufacturers in the world, but still privately held, acquired the printed circuit board production unit of LM Ericsson Infocom in Sweden (CI No 3,308). It says the acquisition will speed up its penetration of European markets and give it access to a sophisticated technology base.
