Verysys Electronic Design Automation GmbH, a Berlin-based electronic design automation company closely associated with Siemens AG, has taken a 20% equity stake in Veriphia SARL, a French formal verifications tools start-up based in Sophia Antipolis in the South of France. Verysys, which has a US subsidiary operation in Fremont, California, uses technology derived from Siemens for model and equivalency checking of complex circuits. The two companies will work together to develop the base technology further. Veriphia’s chief executive officer, Franck Poirot, developed formal verification tools for VLSI Technology Inc’s Compass Design Automation subsidiary until last year, when it was acquired by Avant! as the basis for its Galax! unit (CI No 3,217). Verysys is set to launch an enhanced version of its StructureProver IC design verification tool at this week’s Design Automation Conference in San Francisco.
