Verizon Wireless and Gateway have launched a new LT2016u netbook equipped with Verizon Wireless’ mobile broadband service built into the device. It provides access to the internet enabling Verizon Wireless customers to check e-mail, update their social networking sites and blogs, browse web sites, and post video to the web using the integrated webcam.

According to Verizon, the new netbook is outfitted with a 10.1-inch high-definition WSVGA LED backlit display and comes with an extended 6-cell battery that provides battery life of up to six hours. It uses 1.60GHz Intel Atom N270 processor and is equipped with a 1GB of memory, 160GB of hard drive space, and a digital media card reader.

The Gateway LT2016u netbook runs on Microsoft Windows XP operating system and includes dolby headphone technology and two built-in stereo speakers, digital microphone, integrated 0.3 megapixel webcam, Wi-Fi 802.11 b/g, USB 2.0 ports, Ethernet and VGA, the company said.

The Gateway LT2016u will be available online at Verizon Wireless website and in its communications stores beginning October 4, 2009, for $149.99 after a $100 mail-in rebate with a new two-year customer agreement.
