The LG InfoComm tri-mode phone, to be introduced as VZW520 is being tested on the carrier’s CDMA2000 1X field test system in Maple Shade, NJ and in the Verizon Wireless handset laboratory. The VZW520 is capable of operating on 800 MHz and 1.9 GHz bands on Verizon Wireless’ CDMA network.
Verizon Wireless is currently upgrading its network’s base stations and switches with CDMA2000 1X circuit cards and software and plans to begin phasing in commercial 3G services to its customers later this year.
