VERITY TO USE APPLE TECHNOLOGY

By CBR Staff Writer

Verity Inc is using Apple Computer Inc’s HotSauce Meta Content Format (CI No 3,067) to add a graphical interface to its Search ’97 platform of indexing software. Chief executive Philippe Courtot says his company is readying a new interface technology, code-named Voila! that will allow users to see a graphical representation of their search results. Search 97 administrators would define their own categories, and, at first, would drag and drop a number of appropriate documents into the relevant category icon. Before too long, says Courtot, Search ’97 learns to tag documents for a particular category and takes over the process automatically. Voila! should be available with Search ’97 this summer.
