Internet service provider Verio Inc – barely pausing for breath between acquisitions – has bought web-hosting company Internet Servers Inc (iServer). Verio will add iServer’s proprietary virtual server technology to its own web hosting activities, which come mainly from the acquisition last October of Branch Internet Services Inc. iServer boasts more than 25,000 corporate customers and a marketing force including some 1,500 resellers in 60 countries. The virtual server technology is said to enable customers to configure and control the content, while leaving iServer to manage the system. iServer’s president Kent Millington has the same position at Verio’s newly-created web hosting services division. Denver-based Verio bought two ISPs last week and another one in December.
