Novoarbatsky supermarket in Moscow has purchased and installed Redwood City, California-based VeriFone Inc transaction terminals. The VeriFone terminals were installed by KB Most-Bank. The terminals accept Most cards as well as Visa, Eurocard and Mastercards. The store, which is one of the biggest supermarkets in Moscow, serving 300,000 customers and making more than 40,000 transactions a day, ordered 15 VeriFone Tranz 460 terminals. Since VeriFone appointed Sprint Networks, the joint venture between Sprint International Inc and the Russian Ministry of Communications, its distributor in the Commonwealth of Independent States in 1993, it has delivered more than 2,000 terminals to the region. The Tranz 460 VeriFone terminals will work through the Sprint X25 network to connect to A/O Multicarta, which provides systems of non-cash payments in Russia, in co-operation with VeriFone and Sprint Companies.
