One Touch Systems Inc, San Jose provider of live fully interactive distance-learning systems established in One Touch classrooms equipped with interactive keypads, has raised $7.2m funds from three major venture capital firms, Asia Pacific Ventures, Foundation Capital and Technology Crossover Ventures. The cash will be used to develop further and deliver advanced training systems in the US, Europe, the Pacific Rim and South America. The learning environment includes the host computer and custom software, microphone-equipped response keypads to provide an audio and data link between remote users and their distance learning instructor; custom phone controller managing incoming calls from remote sites to the instructor; remote site controll er co-ordinating speech and data transmission between sites; and software tools for course preparation and results analysis of sessions. Existing customers include Ford Motor Co, Hewlett-Packard Co, Oracle Corp and Xerox Corp; the company did $12m in the first half of its fiscal 1997.
