CyberMedia Inc, Santa Monica developer of the First Aid 95 product for Windows raised $5m in venture capital in a equity offering led by Kleiner, Perkins, Caufield & Byers, contributed to by other existing investors. The investment will give the company additional resources to fuel its rapid growth, it says. CyberMedia claims First Aid 95 is among the top five US best-selling retail software products, with over 1m copies sold. It is designed to fix Windows95 and 3.1 software configuration problems to protect against general protection faults, software conflicts and optimize performance. First Aid 95 Deluxe is designed to update itself automatically over the Internet. Existing investors participating in this round included the Nazem & Co, New Enterprise Associates, Draper-Fisher Associates, Thorner Ventures and Dr Suhas Patil, founder and chairman of Cirrus Logic Inc.
