MFactory Inc, provider of new-generation multimedia authoring software from its base in Burlingame, California has raised $8.5m in venture capital from Adobe Ventures LP – the venture capital fund backed by Adobe Systems Inc – and Hambrecht & Quist Inc; mFactory is currently shipping the developer release of its mTropolis multimedia development tool, which is used in the creation of multimedia titles for CD-ROM and on-line deployment. Web-based publishers will also be able to use mTropolis to create dynamic multimedia titles and distribute them via the Internet. The beneficiary did not indicate what plans it has for the new cash it has raised.
