Forte Technologies Inc, Rochester, New York has won an undisclosed equity investment from Taunton, Massachusetts-based Kopin Corp, which is developing a new generation of high-resolution, flat panel display systems based on its Smart Slide imaging device. Forte Technologies is developing virtual reality head-mounted systems and peripherals for the personal computer and entertainment markets.Its first product, the VFX1TM Head Mounted System, is a complete, integrated virtual reality headset with stereo colour imaging, three axis head tracking, three dimensional sound capability, microphone and ergonomic design, the company claims. Kopin and Forte plan to use Kopin’s small format, high resolution active matrix liquid crystal display technology in its future VFX1 headset products.
