Windata Inc, Northborough, Massachusetts developer of the AirPort Series of building-to-building wireless network that combines high performance with Ethernet compatibility and SNMP network management, reports that it has raised $5.1m in its third round of venture funding. The cash will be used for the continued marketing and development of Windata’s family of wireless data communications products. The first round investors, Accel Partners, San Francisco and Oak Investment Partners, Menlo Park, California, led the new round, which included Burr, Egan, Deleage & Co, San Francisco; New Enterprise Associates, Baltimore, Maryland; Advent International Corp, Boston; Bass Associates, Palo Alto; Evergreen Canada Israel Investments, Tel Aviv; SVM Star Ventures, Munich; and Techno Venture Management, Munich. Windata’s AirPort provides 16Mbps wireless point-to-point and point-to-multipoint communications at distances up to 1.8 miles and is designed to interface directly to existing in-building Ethernets where campus-wide communications at wired network performance levels is needed.
