Sagent Technology Inc, Menlo Park, California data warehouse and decision support tools specialist, reports that it has secured $5m in second-round financing to help it launch a comprehensive suite of data warehousing products in 1996. Greylock is the newest on the list of investors for Sagent, which includes El Dorado Ventures and Crosspoint Venture Partners, which in June participated in the initial $1.1m round of financing. Sagent was founded only in June this year by Ken Gardner, formerly vice-president of products for Borland International Inc, and co-founder and chief executive of ReportSmith Inc, which was acquired by Borland in 1994.
