VANTIVE ACQUIRES INNOVATIVE COMPUTER CONCEPTS

By CBR Staff Writer

Help desk customer service software house Vantive Corp is set to acquire Innovative Computer Concepts Inc in a move that it believes will extend its grip on the spare parts field management market. Santa Clara, California-based Vantive purchased ICC for 695,000 of its shares, worth the equivalent of between $20 and $22m. Vantive’s executive vice president Christopher Lochhead said the acquisition was promted by requests from its customers asking to integrate field dispatch systems with spare parts management, something it would have taken Vantive several years to develop itself. ICC will assume the Vantive name, but will remain at its offices in Manchester, New Hampshire. Lochhead said there won’t be any lay offs made as a result of the purchase, because the company’s don’t overlap enough. The move will push Vantive into closer competition with rivals such as Clarify Corp and Scopus Technology Inc.
