The free fall in DRAM prices has left yet another casualty in its wake with Vanguard International Semiconductor Corp, the Taiwanese chip maker, predicting that its losses for the full year could run as high as $145m on anticipated revenues which have been revised downwards to just $280m. Previously, the company had said it would lose $70m on revenues of $400m. Vanguard made losses of $8m in the first quarter on revenues of $87m with the average price for DRAMs dropping 60% from the first quarter of 1997 to the first quarter of 1998. Figures converted at $0.0290 to the Taiwanese dollar.
