The product is deployed with bar code scanning in an effort to reduce medication errors and improve nursing staff efficiency. It replaces a paper-based process and is interfaced with the hospital’s existing QuadraMed Inpatient Pharmacy system.
Bar coding warns our nurses if they are about to give the wrong patient the wrong medication, said Heidi Glen, Valley General director of pharmacy. Another patient safety capability is that the system helps us track omissions and document them if given at a later time.
QuadraMed Point of Care MAR is designed to positively identify the care provider, patient and medication at the point of care with bar code scanning. User-defined Chart Triggers also remind staff of all charting tasks, providing complete documentation for each order.
