VALID LOGIC SYSTEMS ANNOUNCES RAPIDTEST

By CBR Staff Writer

Valid Logic Systems Inc has announced RapidTEST, the fault simulatortest vector generation part of its TestBRIDGE family of design-to-test electronic design automation software, which runs on Sun-3s and 4s, and DEC VAXstations under VMS. Unisys Corp has been doing a little crystal-gazing to discern the chips it is likely to have at its disposal in the 1990s: it reckons that by 1992, Applications-Specific Integrated Circuits will have 500,000 gates, compared with the current figure of 100,000, and multichip modules will package 100m gates of logic and equivalent memory; by 1993, the CMOS logic-gate density available in a single ASIC chip should approach 500,000; the total logic-gate density possible from multiple logic chips should be 25m, with the total equivalent gate density available in the module with both logic and static memory at 100m gates per module; developments in bipolar module density should result in a single-module CPU for high-end systems by 1993.
