The university’s IT team recently began providing eToken to its numerous schools and administrative departments. Aladdin says the technology is easy to use and highly portable, providing University of Wisconsin-Madison (UW-Madison) users with a secure yet mobile method of storing and using their digital credentials.
eToken’s public key infrastructure (PKI)-based digital signing of emails ensures the integrity of any content sent and confirms the identity of an email sender. It provides the university with email security, seamlessly connecting to major email clients and enabling PKI applications to operate, generate and store private keys and digital certificates inside the USB-based eToken, or an eToken smart card.
eToken will also assist the university in complying with the Family Educational Rights and Privacy Act (FERPA), a federal law that protects the privacy of student education records.
Aladdin eToken provides us with a flexible, durable token for storing digital credentials that are crucial for verifying the authenticity of communications and files, said Nicholas Davis, PKI project leader for UW-Madison. We selected Aladdin eToken because of its unparalleled functionality, as well as its ongoing acceptance at other major universities.
