UUNET PIPEX SCALES UP CONSULTANCY FOR E-COMMERCE BOOM

By CBR Staff Writer

UUNet Pipex Ltd has launched a new Internet consultancy arm of its business and announced its vision of the Internet in the future, specifically focusing on the business end of the Internet. UUNet expects its consultancy staff to have doubled to around 50 by the end of the year, with the UK operation which is headquartered in Cambridge, growing to serve Europe and the US. The company believes that electronic commerce will play a major role in Internet business in the future, with businesses moving away from the telephone and the fax machine and looking to the Internet to conduct the majority of their business. It’s just a matter of time, says the company, before the potential of electronic commerce in the business world is recognized. The new consultancy service will aid customers in the development of strategic and technical services and on-line publishing. UUNet says the scale of its operation is unique within the industry.
