The US market in wireless internet access, for both equipment and services, is to grow from $1.3bn in 1998, to $19bn by 2002, according to analysts Killen & Associates of Palo Alto, California, a compound annual growth rate of 71%. The demand is going to be driven in part by internet access via mobile phones, but also through fixed wireless access, such as Winstar Inc and Teligent Inc.
