US West Inc has formed the Interactive Services Group within its Media Group. Its role is to acquire and develop interactive consumer applications to be delivered on both television and on-line over broadband networks. The work will include both joint ventures and partnerships as well as in-house development to provide interactive entertainment and information services across a variety of system. These will include on-line, narrow and broadband based services. US West said it has no announcement to make at this stage on who it is working with, or any details of the actual services it will be providing. Although it did say that the types of service will not be restricted and will be whatever makes sense for the customer. The only service the new group currently has is GOtv, the interactive television entertainment guide that was announced last year and will feature in the Orlando interactive trial this autumn and the Omaha, Nebraska-based trial over broadband networks.
