US West Inc has joined Bell Atlantic Corp, Sprint Corp and Time Warner Inc to form the Personal Communications Services Technology Advocacy Group and have arrived at recommendations for technical standards in that industry in an effort to advance standards that might speed the development of networks, and it will now promote its recommendations for radio and network interfaces within the industry; the group recommends adoption of separate standards for high tier and low tier air interfaces for radio, suggesting adoption of the IS-95 GDMA high tier standard and the Bell Communications Research TA-NWT-001313 low tier standard; on network switching and signalling interfaces, the group encourages adoption of the National ISDN protocol specifications for switching, and TIA’s IS-41 protocol guidelines for intelligent network signalling.
