Slovakia’s government-owned telephone company Slovenske Telekomunikacie sp says it has reached agreement with US West Inc and Bell Atlantic Corp on forming a joint venture, paving the way for it to gain one of Slovakia’s two cellular telephone licenses. It said it had agreed in principle to create a new joint stock company in which it will hold a 60% stake, required by conditions for bidding for the licenses. Failure to comply to this was cited as the reason Eurotel, in which the Slovak compan y holds 51% and US West and Bell Atlantic the remaining 49%, failed earlier to win a license. It said the new venture should receive one of the licenses.
