The US National Center for Supercomputing Applications has bought an additional 128-processor Cray Origin2000 from Cray Research, the supercomputer subsidiary of Silicon Graphics Inc. NCSA already has a 128-processor and it is thought the addition of a second one will make it the biggest Cray Origin configuration in the world; when installation is complete the 256-processor will consist of 32-processor units connected via a HIPPI high speed network.
