US ROBOTICS & SIEMENS PLAN JOINT INTERNET TELEPHONY BUNDLE

By CBR Staff Writer

US Robotics Inc has teamed up with Siemens Stromberg-Carlson’s Internet Solutions Business Unit to develop Voice over IP Internet Protocol services. The companies are chasing telecom service providers, Internet Service Providers and cable television operators with what they claim will be pre-packaged hardware and software systems as well as installation and integration for offering internet telephony services. USR’s Total Control remote access server will be the basis of joint development with Siemens adding call-processing features on a jointly developed software platform to allow Internet service providers to accept voice and data calls over the same physical circuits.
