US Robotics Corp, Skokie, Illinois inheritor of Hayes Microcomputer Products Inc’s mantle as the modem mass market leader, has decided that it does want to buy Hayes, which filed for Chapter 11 bankruptcy protection in November last year. US Robotics has submitted a bid for Hayes to the Official Committee of Unsecured Creditors, proposing a deal in which US Robotics would pay 100% of creditor’s claims, including interest, and up to $97.5m in US Robotics stock to Hayes holders.
