Skokie, Illinois-based US Robotics Inc has announced the DataBurst ISDN 128K, a desktop parallel port ISDN terminal adapter. Included is TurboPPP, a set of proprietary capabilities for maximising performance. These include Multilink Point-to-Point Protocol, enabling two 64Kbps B channels to be aggregated. TurboPPP supports multiple forms of data compression software for ISDN transmissions including those from Stac Electronics Inc, Microsoft Corp and Ascend Communications Inc. It enables the Data-Burst to adjust the compression type based on the device on the other end of the call, with potential throughput up to 512Kbps. An integrated NT-1 version is also available, including a direct connection to the ISDN wall jack. Other features include D-Channel protocol monitoring, line diagnostics and call logging. The DataBurst ISDN 128K is $280 for the Integrated NT-1 version, and $240 for S/T, designed for use with a stand-alone NT-1 or PABXs supporting S/T interfaces.
