Mill Valley, California-based startup Online Music Company Inc has announced a $1.5m first-round investment from London-based internet venture capitalist Arts Alliance Ltd and Swedish e-commerce firm Icon Medialab. OMC launched the beta of its music-licensing library last week at www.licensemusic.com, which provides a catalogue of pre-recorded off-the-shelf tracks for TV, film and advertising. The tracks are available in MP3 and PCM file formats and include Aris Technology’s Musicode digital watermarking to protect copyright. Arts Alliance invests only in internet-based companies, and claims to be the largest UK investor in internet music.
