US & JAPANESE AIR TRAFFIC CONTROL STAGE Y2K TEST

The US Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) and the Japanese Civil Aviation Bureau (CAB) are planning to conduct joint tests of the year 2000 compliance of their systems on both sides of the Pacific. The authorities will start test a three day test of air traffic control systems on October 27. According to the Nihon Keizai Shimbon, the test will involve simulating various flight scenarios that could occur between the night of December 31 1999 and the morning of January 1 2000.
