US-JAPAN TRADE ROW LOOMS OVER VALUE-ADDED NETWORKS

Another row is brewing between the US and Japan, this time over value-added network services. The Ministry of Posts & Telecommunications wants all networks in Japan to use one protocol standard that the US says will not only put the likes of General Electric Information Services and Tymnet at a disadvantage, but is very slow into the bargain.
