It was little more than a formality, but another strand is now in place in Cable & Wireless Plc’s ambitious plan for a global fibre optic highway with granting by the US Federal Communications Commission of a licence for the American end of the PPAC cable across the Pacific, in which Pacific Telecom Inc is Cables’ principal partner.
