Dell Computer Corp is said to be considering the idea of software development in India, according to local reports. The company’s subsidiary, if it gets the go-ahead, is likely to be in place by end of this year, with an estimated investment of around six to seven million dollars.
Meanwhile, 3Com Corp plans to set up a wholly owned subsidiary within the next two months and make India a logistics hub for its operations in the neighboring countries, bringing in substantial investment. There are plans to forge joint ventures with Indian software firms to make India a development hub as well for the company’s global operations, a senior company official said.
Global mobile phone manufacturer Nokia Oy will invest in India for technology development for providing various regional languages on cellular phones.
And Motorola Inc is setting up an Indian subsidiary to start a transaction center. The center will act be a global hub for financial and accounting advisory services to multinationals worldwide. Motorola says it is still finalizing the financial details and locations of its proposed venture.
