Hoisted by all time record orders of $1,379m, up 4.9% on the April figure, the Semiconductor Industry Association’s book-to-bill ratio for May came out at 1.14, up from 1.09 in April; the March figure has been revised to 1.15 from the 1.09 reported. Average monthly orders for the three months to May were $1,379.6m, up 7.8% on the same figure for April. Shipments to the US market rose 5.7% to $1,177.6m over the April figure, and the three-month average shipments to May were $1,205.6m to give the 1.14 book-to-bill ratio.
