The chip book-to-bill ratio for September fell to 1.03 for the US market from the August figure of 1.05, which has been revised upwards from the reported 1.04, according to the US Semiconductor Industry Association in San Jose. The semiconductor industry established a new billings record of $3,160m in September, as the industry enjoyed its tenth consecutive month above the 1.00 break-even mark. North American monthly market orders in September, based on the three month running average, were down marginally to $2,910m from $2,920m in August, but up 33.5% on September 1993. September shipments totalled $2,820m, up 1.4% on the August figure and 31.6% higher than September 1993.
