New York-based music video website Vevo has launched in the UK as part of its first expansion outside the US.

The online music site, partly owned by Sony Music and Universal Music, said it will offer music videos tailored to UK viewers.

The UK site will provide viewers with access to all US videos, live events, interviews, and live coverage of performances. The Bonnaroo Music & Arts Festival in June in Manchester, Tennessee will be covered by the music site.

The UK operation will have about 25 staff and is being run as a standalone operation with offices in London’s Tottenham Court Road, and is backed by the Abu Dhabi Media Company.

Vevo plans to introduce its site in other countries, including other European countries, as well as Brazil and Australia, which are expected to follow the UK rollout.

The music site has also begun talks with companies including Channel 4, Virgin Media and ITV over potential partnerships in the UK, and has so far signed up advertisers including Unilever, Maybelline, BT, Puma, Warner Brothers Pictures and Blackberry.
