EPOS systems provider Uniwell Systems UK has integrated its electronic till platform with sQuidcard’s eMoney to enable contactless transactions with loyalty schemes.

With the completion of the first phase, Uniwell customers can now accept low cost cashless transactions using the sQuid eMoney platform.

Jonathan Hutchings, managing director of Uniwell, said: “There is a big demand from our customers particularly in the catering, business and industry, education and retail sectors to encourage the replacement of cash. Up to now, the bank schemes have not had much impact, but with sQuid we can provide a much better customer experience, deliver improved management information, and provide integrated loyalty services through our EPOS systems.”

The sQuid service is based around a smartcard used for contactless payment. Customers top-up the free prepaid card, using it at enabled tills.

The first Uniwell enabled sQuid installations are now live in two schools, where sQuid has worked with Uniwell and its business partner to deliver the service. sQuid is also available in Bolton and Dundee.

Adam Smith, managing director of sQuidcard, said: “SQuid saves time, is more convenient than cash, and helps you keep an eye on where your money is going. As an independent eMoney network, you can’t get into debt and you don’t even need a bank account to use it, making it ideal for everyone. sQuid delivers easy payment and loyalty with cashless transactions, and the integration of our terminals with the Uniwell systems gives a simple to implement solution on the customer’s premises.”
