UNIVERSITY COLLEGE, LONDOM. INSTALLA FIBRONICS LAN

By CBR Staff Writer

University College, London has installed the UK’s first 100Mbps local area network, getting it from Fibronics Ltd: initially four departments will be linked, but the four node system will be expandable into a 60 mile ring supporting a maximum of 500 nodes; the nodes function as learning bridges, allowing communication between the installed base of Ethernets, and preventing any of the local traffic from entering the backbone ring.
