Univel Inc, which last month closed its first full quarter booking orders, says it has 500 resellers signed and another 2,000 US, 1,000 Pacific Rim and 1,000 European resellers going through the process. Most are Novell Platinum and Gold resellers or part of the new Novell Unix Master programme. Univel admits its continued independence is still an unresolved issue that’s being kicked around Novell and reckons its eventual disposition won’t be made public until after Novell’s acquisition of Unix System Laboratories Inc goes through, though the decision could actually be made in the next 30 days. Novell has said it expected Univel to do over $5m worth of business during the quarter just closed. It sees it building over the next two quarters and to get serious in the autumn.
