Univa appoints new CEO

Open source grid software vendor Univa Corp has appointed a new chief executive officer, bringing in a former Oracle Corp and i2 Technologies Inc executive to balance the start-up's technical expertise.

By CBR Staff Writer

The Chicago, Illinois-based company has appointed Michael Ellis as its new CEO, replacing co-founder, Steve Tuecke, who has become chief technology officer and will drive the company’s product strategy.

Univa was founded in 2004 by Tuecke along with chief open source strategist Dr Ian Foster and chief scientist Dr Carl Kesselman, and provides support for the open source Globus Toolkit. In August last year it secured $8m in Series A funding from ARCH Venture Partners, New World Ventures, Appian Ventures, and OCA Ventures.
