UNITED SCIENTIFIC ACQUIRES 6.1% STAKE IN VARO

United Scientific Holdings Plc has acquired a 6.1% stake in military electronics and optical equipment manufacturer Varo Inc of Garland, Texas, and says it may make a tender offer for the rest of the company: it proposed a friendly offer of $17.50 a share but was rebuffed.
