UNITED AIRLINES NOW FAVOURS PS/2 OVER 9370 FOR AGENTS

By CBR Staff Writer

In another disappointment for IBM with the 9370, the Covia Corp division of United Airlines has rolled out the fruits of its major development project to create a full-function administrative computer system for travel agents – and announced that although much of the system was originally conceived to run on the 9370, most of it has now been implemented successfully on the Personal System/2 Models 60 and 80. When the contract was announced in February 1986, it was thought that a 4361 predecessor to the 9370 would be required (CI No 368), but United now says that a network of PS/2 60s or 80s is quite adequate.
