While terms of the deal were not disclosed, Unit 4 said Amedia is profitable and expects to realize revenue of 12m euros ($15.4m) in 2006. It offers software for insurance agents, from one-man businesses to large direct agents, and the purchase fits in with Unit 4 strategy at extending applications into the professional and financial services sectors.

To minimize the financial impact of the acquisition, Sliedrecht, Netherlands-based Unit 4 has entered a deal with investment company NPM Capital to each buy 50% of the company, and Unit 4 will have a two-year option to buy the remaining shares.
