IT services provider Unisys has won a firm fixed price contract to provide maintenance and IT support for the US federal government website, GSA.gov, and for the General Services Administration’s (GSA) internal portal, GSA InSite.

The agreement, a recompete of a contract that Unisys has held since April 2003, was awarded under GSA’s IT Schedule, a procurement vehicle that assists federal agencies with IT purchasing. The contract consists of one base year and four one-year options, which are exercisable at the discretion of the government.

Under the contract, Unisys is expected to continue to provide functional and technical IT support to enhance the GSA.gov site. Unisys is also expected to work with GSA to implement new technologies to promote collaboration and interaction among GSA’s over 14,000 associates. Unisys has developed the GSA.gov website and improved the distributed content management system, which helped to improve search capabilities, site performance, and end-user satisfaction.

In addition, Unisys has created and maintains the enterprise infrastructure required to support the agency’s intranet portal, GSA InSite. To reduce costs, Unisys consolidated five of the agency’s regional portals on one centralized system, and is expected to continue to support the agency’s consolidation efforts throughout the contract period. In addition, GSA recently implemented a Unisys-supported architecture with single sign-on and collaboration capabilities, enabling employees to share documents and projects, communicate online, and manage e-mail in an access-controlled environment.
